China Beach

The China Beach Trail is a well-maintained, gravel path that offers a gentle 15-minute descent through a mix of majestic old-growth and mature second-growth forest. The trail, approximately 1.5 kilometers long, is an easy walk for most visitors, making it an excellent choice for families. As you round a bend, you’ll encounter a platform. From there, a short section of stairs leads down, which may pose a bit of a challenge for families with strollers.

A lesser-known gem of China Beach is its hidden waterfall. As you reach the far end of the beach, you’ll notice a prominent sandstone cliff. Beyond this cliff, along a rocky outcrop, a small creek quietly emerges from the dense forest. By following the creek through the rocks and fallen trees, you’ll discover the hidden waterfall nestled within the forest. Note that access to the waterfall depends on the tide and the time of year. During high tide, the path along the cliff may be blocked, making the waterfall inaccessible. Additionally, the flow of the waterfall varies with the seasons, being more pronounced during wetter months and less so in the dry season.
